Cupping Therapy

What is it?

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which suction is created on the skin through the application of plastic or glass cups. A more modern approach to cupping uses a rubber pump to create the suction inside the cup. The practitioners may either leave the cups in place 3-5 minutes or move the cups around to create a massage-like effect. People get cupping for many different purposes, such as reducing pain, inflammation, increasing blood flow, relaxation and overall well-being.

What does cupping do?

The suction from the cupping draws fluid into the treated area. The suction force expands the tiny blood vessels creating a bruise-like mark. It increases blood flow on the targeted area, relieving muscle tension, and promote cell repair throughout the area.
